Myopia Treatments
Myopia is the technical termed for short-sightedness, where light focusses in front of the retina rather than on it. This means that objects further away will appear blurred and objects close by will be on focus. It can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses.
Myopia is rapidly becoming more prevalent in this country, developing in children as young as six years old. The severity of myopia (how high the prescription is) tends to increase over time, meaning a stronger prescription is required and there is an increase in the risk of some eye diseases later in life. The earlier myopia develops, the more it is likely to progress. There is also a strong link between myopia in parents and their children.
Research has shown that the rate of progression (or increase) of myopia can be slowed with several different methods. The aim of these treatments is to slow progression so that the resulting stabilised prescription when the child reaches adulthood is significantly lower than it would have been without intervention. MIYOSMART GLASSES

ORTHO K LENSES
Orthokeratology (OrthoK) offers a non-surgical alternative for myopia control by reshaping your cornea while you sleep.
Both options work on the same principle. The child’s vision is corrected as normal centrally, and in the periphery the prescription is calculated to bring light to focus in front of the retina, rather than on or behind it. Research suggests this controls axial elongation, where the eye itself grows, causing the child to become more myopic.
